As you know haven't updated the post for a while so here's a little bit of each highlight...
Carson, Mom, Dad next to the Mediterranean Sea (as it was storming obviously, this was our first day after me and mom met up with Dad and Carson in Israel)
Mom next to a marble roman statue
The sea of Galilee. We rode across it on these old boats and fed the flocks of seagulls that attacked us!
Huge plants, they had a lot of these and they were massive
The Jordan river, people get baptized there everyday. We saw a huge muskrat swimming in the river just upstream- gross.
This is an old roman bathhouse, only men could come here, they would have fires all around this room outside then have billows and blow the heat from the fire into around these pillars; water would be around them and create steam, there was another floor sitting on top of all the pillars and the steam would rise up and make a sauna.
Me and dad
Mom on a roman toilet- there was no privacy
One of King Herod's palaces at Masada
A rabbi translating scrolls at Masada- it's a BIG hike or you have to ride a tram to get to the top of this plateau called masada
Israeli military, every jew has to serve two years
Dome of the rock in Jerusalem
this is a Jewish man studying at the wailing wall or western wall as they call it
to go to see the wailing wall men had to have their heads covered so either a hat or yammaca that they had for you to borrow
the church of the holy sceplacur (don't know how to spell that) in Jerusalem
Brings back great memories of a great trip. I'm loving reading the New Testament now and knowing where the places are that are talked about, also you can understand some of the feelings and ingrained tradition the Jews have.
ReplyDeleteWow, lots of pictures of what you have been up to. Busy.
